Emotional release, spiritual practice, and the quiet power of returning to your centre
This week has felt full in a beautiful way.
There has been Reiki teaching, family activities at the Necton cycling event, and a few synchronicities that made me pause.
A dream.
A message.
A moment of timing that felt a little too aligned to ignore.
Around the New Moon, I felt that familiar invitation again: to pause, clear, listen, and begin quietly from inside.
New Moons often feel like a doorway. Not always dramatic. Not always obvious. But subtle.
They invite us to ask:
What am I beginning?
What am I ready to practise again?
What helps me come back to myself?
And this week, the answer felt very simple:
Practice.
Not perfect practice.
Not complicated practice.
Just a steady return.
What is spiritual practice, really?
A spiritual practice is not only something that looks “spiritual.”
It is not about becoming special.
It is not about being calm all the time.
It is not about pretending everything is light.
It is not about escaping life.
To me, spiritual practice is a repeated, intentional way of coming back to yourself.
Back to your breath.
Back to your body.
Back to your heart.
Back to your truth.
Back to your connection with something larger than the busy mind.
For some people, that practice is Reiki.
For some, it is prayer.
For some, meditation.
For some, walking in nature, journalling, chanting, yoga, silence, ritual, or simply placing a hand on the heart and breathing.
The form can be different.
But the direction is the same:
back to centre.
back to truth.
back to the self beneath the noise.
Reiki is a practice of returning
Reiki is often known as energy healing, but for me it is also a spiritual practice.
It is a way of listening.
Many people come to Reiki when they feel emotionally full, energetically heavy, tired from holding everything together, or disconnected from themselves.
They may not know exactly what they need.
They may only know they feel heavy, sensitive, overwhelmed, tired, teary, or not quite like themselves.
Reiki offers a quiet space where the body can soften, the breath can deepen, and the nervous system can begin to feel safe enough to listen again.
When we place our hands on ourselves, or when we receive Reiki from someone else, we are not forcing the body to change.
We are creating a space where the body can feel safe enough to soften.
And when the body softens, something often begins to move.
A breath.
A warmth.
A memory.
A sensation.
A tear.
A release.
Sometimes it is very peaceful.
Sometimes it is emotional.
Sometimes it is subtle.
Sometimes it is surprisingly clear.
This is why Reiki can feel so powerful, even though it looks simple from the outside.
It gives the body permission to return to itself.
When the body needs to cry
This week I taught Reiki Level 1, and something very touching happened.
I guided one simple exercise, and afterwards my student started to cry.
When I gently asked how she had been feeling, she said she had been fine — and she didn’t really know why the tears came.
But sometimes the mind says:
“I’m fine.”
And the body says:
“Something is ready to release now.”
The tears did not need a big story.
They did not need to be explained.
They simply needed to come.
To me, tears are not weakness.
They are movement.
They are softening.
They are the body saying, “Thank you. I don’t need to hold this in the same way anymore.”
Sometimes the body has been waiting for a safe enough space to let go.
Reiki practice can create that space.
Clearing what the body has been carrying
Reiki can be a gentle way to clear what feels heavy in the body — emotionally, energetically, and sometimes spiritually.
It does not force a release.
It does not demand a performance.
It does not ask us to explain everything.
It simply invites the body to soften in its own timing.
Sometimes I am amazed by what Reiki opens for clients.
A body release.
An emotional release.
Tears.
A deep sigh.
A sense of peace.
A message.
A sense of inner guidance or spirit guide connection.
A feeling of lightness.
A sense of, “I am back with myself.”
And often, it is not because I am “doing” something dramatic.
It is because when the body finally feels safe enough, it knows what is ready to release.
Every person is different, and there is no “right” Reiki experience. Some people feel a lot. Some feel very little at first. Some simply feel calmer, warmer, or more spacious afterwards.
All of it is welcome.
Synchronicities and grounded listening
This week, I also noticed a few synchronicities — especially through a dream and through timing.
I love these moments.
They can feel like little winks from life. They remind us that we are connected to something wider than the thinking mind.
But I also feel it is important to stay grounded with synchronicities.
Not every sign means we must act immediately.
Not every dream needs to become a big decision.
Not every coincidence needs to be chased.
Spiritual practice helps us meet synchronicity with steadiness.
Instead of rushing into, “What does it mean?” we can ask:
How does this feel in my body?
Does this bring me closer to myself, or further away?
Does this create peace, clarity and kindness?
What is the next small, honest step?
This is where Reiki practice becomes so helpful.
It helps us stay open without becoming overwhelmed.
It helps us listen without losing our centre.
Coming back to yourself
Once you begin Reiki — or any spiritual practice that truly supports you — you begin to come back to yourself.
Not because you were lost in a bad way.
But because life is always pulling us outward.
Messages.
Responsibilities.
Family needs.
Work.
Other people’s emotions.
Social media.
Decisions.
Expectations.
Without a practice, we can begin to live from reaction.
With practice, we begin to return to response.
We can ask:
Is this mine?
What am I carrying?
What is ready to be released?
What is true for me now?
This is the quiet power of practice.
It brings us home.
A simple practice: return to yourself
Here is a gentle practice you can try this week.
Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.
Take three slow breaths.
Then ask:
What helps me return to myself?
What pulls me away from myself?
What am I ready to release gently?
Let the answer be simple.
It might be Reiki.
It might be prayer.
It might be walking.
It might be journalling.
It might be sitting quietly before checking your phone.
It might be saying no.
It might be receiving support.
The practice does not need to look impressive.
It only needs to be true.
Reiki teaching and support
This week’s Reiki teaching reminded me again how beautiful it is when someone begins to trust their own hands, their own sensitivity, and their own connection.
Reiki is not only something you receive from someone else.
It can become a relationship with yourself.
A practice you return to when life feels noisy.
A way of calming and clearing your energy.
A way of listening to the body.
A way of reconnecting with your own heart.
You do not need to be perfectly calm to practise.
You do not need to have all the answers.
You do not need to feel spiritual every day.
You only need willingness.
A willingness to pause.
A willingness to listen.
A willingness to come back.
Work with me
If Reiki has been calling you — to receive, to learn, or to reconnect with your own practice — this may be your gentle nudge.
I offer Reiki sessions, distant Reiki, and Reiki teaching/support for those who feel ready to begin or deepen their practice.
I also combine Reiki with other therapies when your system needs a more layered kind of support:
Reiki • Craniosacral • Somatic Massage • Facial/Foot Reflexology • EFT • Emotion Code
The intention is always simple:
To help you return to yourself.
To soften what has been held too tightly.
To reconnect with your inner clarity.
To support your next step from calm, not pressure.
Every session is held gently and respectfully — there is no pressure to feel, see, release, or experience anything in a certain way. We simply listen to what your body is ready for.
Reiki is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical or mental health care. Please seek appropriate professional support if you are dealing with serious physical or emotional symptoms.
