Knowing Myself – Why Listening to Your Body Matters

A Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy session where a therapist gently places their hands on a client’s head, symbolizing deep healing and relaxation. The softly lit room features natural elements like candles, plants, and healing crystals, creating a warm and soothing atmosphere.

How Well Do You Know Yourself?

This week, I received devastating news.

An ex-colleague of mine, a fellow therapist, was in a tragic car accident and passed away. She had two young children, a husband, and a family who loved her.

I was told that she was struggling. I don’t know exactly what she was facing, but I do know that ultimately, she lost herself. And now, those of us who knew her are left struggling too—trying to process the loss, trying to understand what we may never fully know.

It made me stop and ask myself:
How well do we truly know ourselves?

The Risk of Losing Ourselves in Life’s Struggles

Too often, we don’t realize we’re struggling until we feel completely lost.

When we ignore our own needs, stress doesn’t just disappear—it builds. It manifests in tight shoulders, headaches, exhaustion, and restlessness.

And suddenly, we wake up one day feeling disconnected from ourselves, wondering:
Why do I feel so drained?
Why is my body so tense?
When did I stop listening to myself?

If we don’t check in with ourselves regularly, life keeps moving, and we keep pushing through—until something forces us to stop.

Where Stress & Emotions Live in the Body

  • Your shoulders, jaw, or back feel tight, but you don’t notice until someone points it out.
  • You feel emotionally exhausted but keep pushing through, ignoring your need to rest.
  • You feel disconnected, like something is “off,” but can’t explain why.

These are your body’s quiet warnings. And if we don’t listen, they get louder.

Reiki & Craniosacral Therapy: Returning to Yourself

Sometimes, talking about emotions isn’t enough. Stress, trauma, and emotional exhaustion live in the nervous system. That’s why treatments like Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy can be so powerful—they don’t just relax you, they help you release what’s stored deep inside.

🌿 Reiki works with energy, helping to clear emotional blockages and restore a sense of inner balance.
🧘 Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle touch therapy that calms the nervous system and supports deep healing.

Both treatments help you:
Reconnect with yourself when life feels overwhelming.
Release stress and emotions held in your body.
Create a sense of inner calm and clarity.
