Is It Mine or Theirs?-A gentle autumn guide to clearing absorbed energy

Two figures exchanging golden energy; lungs highlighted, autumn leaves—Autumn Reset: breathe, let go, keep warm.

Hi friend, how have you been?

Half-term wrapped up (my son’s delighted to be back with his friends), and under the recent super full moon I took myself to Brighton for my annual auricular (ear) acupuncture reassessment. We exchanged treatments and I dropped into a deep, meditative state—so clarifying. I also watched inspiring NADA conference talks from clinicians and holistic therapists using ear work in cancer care, addiction support, physical pain and mental health. If needles sound scary, ear beads are a gentle, non-needle alternative that keep supporting you between sessions.

Back at home I’ve been decluttering—garage bits, old ties, and thoughts that don’t serve the now-me. In clinic, I kept hearing a similar theme:

“Something is stuck in my body, but my mind can’t explain it.”

I call this absorbed energy—the stuff we pick up through everyday contact. When the body finally feels safe, it can reveal and release what the mind couldn’t name.

“Is it mine or theirs?” — a 3-step check

Use this anytime you feel heavy, foggy, anxious, or “not yourself.”

1) Notice the mind (projections & “shoulds”)

When your attention locks onto other people, watch for loops like:
“Did I do something wrong?” • “I should have done better.” • “I’m worried they’re not doing X.”
These are projection signals—we start acting as if our worry is true, which can create the very dynamic we fear.

Quick cues

  • Absorbed / theirs: sudden heaviness or anxiety after being with someone; tight jaw/shoulders; foggy head.

  • Yours: a familiar theme that follows you across many situations.

2) Acknowledge & make yourself safe (1–2 minutes)

Ask: “Does this serve me right now?” If no, put it down for a minute and regulate:

  • Hand on heart + belly → breathe in 4 / out 6 × 10

  • Feel both feet; soften jaw/shoulders

  • Whisper: “Thank you—return to sender with love.”

This isn’t avoidance; it’s creating safety so your body can decide clearly.

3) Choose from your heart (only when resourced)

From a steadier state, decide if any action is yours.

Check: Am I resourced? Did they ask? What one kind step is mine?
Offer from the heart, not fear:

  • “Would you like help, or just company?”

  • “I’m not available now, but I can do X at Y time.”

  • “I hear you. Here’s what I can offer.”

Calm thought: I keep my warmth without carrying what isn’t mine.

If breath-counting is tricky → Thumb-to-fingers reset (60–120s)

Touch thumb → index and take one natural breath (in + out).
Thumb → middle = one breath.
Thumb → ring = one breath.
Thumb → little = one breath.

That’s one round. Repeat 2–4 rounds.
Optional cue words on each breath: safe • mine • not mine • let go.

Why this matters in autumn (Metal season)

After the autumn equinox, TCM places us in Metal season—the realm of the Lungs (receive/feel) and Large Intestine (release/complete). Many people notice:

  • Lung signs: cough, wheeze, chesty colds/bronchitis, shallow breathing, post-viral fatigue

  • Large Intestine signs: constipation or loose stools, bloating, irregular rhythm

Waking at 3–5am (Lung time) or 5–7am (Large Intestine time) can be a nudge to support breath, grief/letting go, and morning elimination.

Need help separating “mine” from “theirs”?

I create a safe, steady space so your system can reveal and release what it’s been holding—without force.

Set your 2026 intention—consciously, gently, body-first.
November is a powerful bridge to become more conscious about how you want to live, work, and feel.

What we’ll do (simple + effective):

  1. Assess & align: map drains/fillers, notice “absorbed” vs “yours,” and anchor safety in the body.

  2. Release & shift: EFT (Tapping) + Emotion Code to clear trapped emotions and shift subconscious patterns.

  3. Integrate: tiny 5–10 min daily practices (breath, thumb-to-fingers reset, self-acupressure).

  4. Intend 2026: craft 3 core feelings/values, set realistic actions, and create a simple ritual to keep you on track.

Ready when you are. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

With warmth,
Naomi
