Mentally, physically, emotionally — and gently returning to what you actually want

July has begun, and I noticed myself looking at my schedule, wondering whether I should go away for a few days.

At first, I thought maybe I needed a “proper” break somewhere else.

But when I heard how extremely hot it has been in parts of Europe, something in me didn’t feel encouraged to travel.

So instead of forcing a trip, I decided to stay here — and give myself three days to gently dedicate to myself.

Not in a dramatic way.
Not with a perfect plan.
Not because I had to be productive.

But with a feeling of:

What do I actually want to do?
What has been quietly sitting in my mind for a long time?
What would help me feel ready for the next six months?

So I chose simple things.

I went to Brighton to walk around and enjoy the sea air.
I had lunch with a friend.
I received a body alignment treatment.
I spent time decluttering and weeding in my garden — something I do not usually do.

I am not really a “garden person,” so this surprised me.

But there was something very satisfying about clearing the outside space while also clearing something inside me.

This July and August, school holidays begin, and my family will be in the UK because of my husband’s events. So instead of wishing I was somewhere else, I want to enjoy the British summer in my own way.

A little sea air.
A little clearing.
A little friendship.
A little receiving.
A little space to prepare for the next half of the year.

And I realised:

Sometimes healing is not about travelling far away.

Sometimes healing is not a big retreat.

Sometimes healing is simply giving yourself a few delicate days where you stop following only “I have to,” “I should,” and “I must” — and begin listening to what quietly wants to be done.

Healing is also making space

Last week, I wrote about healing as a daily relationship with yourself.

That thought is still with me.

Because daily healing is not only about what we do when life becomes difficult.

It is also about noticing the small places where we can return to ourselves.

A breath before reacting.
A walk instead of scrolling.
A treatment when the body has been asking for support.
A cleared corner.
A day without rushing.
A moment of asking, “What do I actually want?”

This week reminded me that healing is also about creating space.

Not only physical space.

But mental space.
Emotional space.
Energetic space.

Mental space: stepping away from “should”

Many of us live with a very busy inner voice.

I should do this.
I have to finish that.
I must be organised.
I should be more productive.
I must make the most of my time.

Of course, responsibilities matter.

But when life is only led by “should,” the body can begin to feel heavy.

We may feel tired even when we are resting.
We may feel guilty when we stop.
We may feel disconnected from our own desire.

Mental space begins when we pause and ask a different question:

What do I actually want?
What would feel kind today?
What would feel clearing?
What has been waiting quietly for my attention?

For me, this was not a glamorous answer.

It was weeding.
Clearing.
Walking.
Receiving treatment.
Going to Brighton.
Seeing a friend.

Simple things.

But they gave my mind room to breathe.

Physical space: clearing what has been waiting

There is something powerful about clearing physical space.

A garden.
A drawer.
A room.
A pile of papers.
A corner that has been quietly asking for attention.

Physical clutter can sometimes carry emotional weight.

Not always in a dramatic way, but in a quiet background way.

Every time we see it, the mind says:

I need to deal with that.
I should have done that already.
Why have I left it so long?

So when we finally clear even one small area, something inside can soften.

For me, clearing and weeding the garden felt like more than gardening.

It felt like making space for the next version of myself.

It reminded me that the outside and inside are often connected.

When we clear a little around us, something inside can become clearer too.

Emotional space: receiving, not only doing

Creating space is not only about removing things.

It is also about receiving.

Having lunch with a friend.
Letting myself walk slowly.
Receiving a body alignment treatment.
Giving myself permission to enjoy the day without needing to justify it.

This can be surprisingly difficult.

Many of us are good at doing.
Good at holding.
Good at caring for others.
Good at keeping things moving.

But receiving?

That can feel unfamiliar.

Emotional space asks:

Can I allow myself to be supported?
Can I enjoy something without guilt?
Can I let myself have a day that is not only useful, but nourishing?

This is also healing.

Not because something was wrong.

But because we are human, and humans need space to feel, digest, rest and reconnect.

Energetic space: what are you carrying into the next six months?

We are now in the second half of the year.

This does not need to become pressure.

It does not need to become another list of goals.

But it can be a beautiful moment to ask:

What am I still carrying from the first half of the year?
What do I not want to carry into the next six months?
What kind of support would help me feel clearer?
How do I want to feel by the end of this year?

Energetic space can be created in many ways.

Reiki.
EFT.
Massage.
Reflexology.
Facial therapy.
Walking.
Breathing.
Journalling.
Silence.

A conversation.
A gentle boundary.

It does not have to be complicated.

Sometimes one small practice is enough to remind the body:

I am here.
I am listening.
I do not have to carry everything in the same way.

One delicate choice can shift the system

We often wait for a perfect moment to reset.

A holiday.
A retreat.
A clear schedule.
A quiet house.
More time.
More money.
More energy.

But often, the reset begins with one delicate choice.

Choosing the walk.
Choosing the treatment.
Choosing to clear the garden.
Choosing lunch with a friend.
Choosing not to travel when the body says no.
Choosing to stay and still make life feel fresh.

One delicate choice can create space.

And space can change how we meet the next season.

A reflection for this week

Take a few quiet minutes and ask yourself:

What have I been saying “I should” to?
What have I quietly wanted to do for a long time?
What would feel clearing, nourishing or freeing?
What would help me feel ready for the next six months?

Then ask:

Where do I need space mentally?
Where do I need space physically?
Where do I need space emotionally?
Where do I need space energetically?

Let the answers be simple.

Maybe it is clearing one corner.
Maybe it is walking somewhere new.
Maybe it is booking a treatment.
Maybe it is seeing a friend.
Maybe it is learning Reiki.
Maybe it is receiving support.
Maybe it is doing nothing for an hour without guilt.

Your reset does not need to impress anyone.

It only needs to be honest.

New this season: Reiki Teaching

This summer feels like the right time to share Reiki Level 1 Teaching more clearly.

Reiki has been part of my life and work for many years, but teaching it feels very special.

Reiki Level 1 is a beautiful beginning for anyone who feels called to learn from me and build their own self-practice.

It can help you:

Trust your hands.
Listen to your energy.
Clear what feels heavy.
Create a daily healing rhythm.
Return to yourself when life feels noisy.

Reiki is not only something you receive from someone else.

It can become a relationship with yourself.

A way to pause.
A way to listen.
A way to come back to your centre.

You do not need to feel perfectly calm to learn Reiki.
You do not need to have all the answers.
You only need willingness.

A willingness to pause.
A willingness to listen.
A willingness to begin.

New this season: Japanese Facial Therapy with Buccal Massage

The second offering I want to share more clearly is Japanese Facial Therapy with Buccal Massage.

Many of us hold stress, emotion and unspoken words in the face.

The jaw clenches.
The cheeks tighten.
The mouth holds back.
The eyes look tired.
The neck and shoulders brace.

Sometimes the face says:

I’m fine.

But the body says:

I’m holding too much.

Japanese Facial Therapy with Buccal Massage works gently with the face from both the outside and inside of the mouth.

It supports the jaw, cheeks, mouth, facial muscles and tension patterns that often connect with the nervous system.

For many people, this can feel deeply releasing.

Not because we force anything.

But because the face is finally given permission to soften.

This work is not only about beauty.

It is listening work.
It is softening work.
It is nervous-system support.
It is a way of helping the face and body remember ease again.

Sometimes, when the jaw softens, the whole system breathes differently.

A note for those outside London / outside the UK

Travel is one of my passions, and I believe healing work can travel too.

If you are outside London or outside the UK and feel drawn to learn Reiki from me or receive my hands-on treatments, I’m open to exploring a gentle exchange.

Where timing and location align, I may be able to come to you and offer Reiki teaching or treatments in exchange for accommodation during my stay.

This could include:

Reiki Level 1 Teaching.
Therapeutic Massage.
Japanese Facial Therapy with Buccal Massage.
Reflexology.
Reiki / energy work.

Everything would be discussed clearly and respectfully in advance, so it feels safe, fair and comfortable for both sides.

If this idea calls to you, please message me with the word TRAVEL.
