How has your week been?
Mine has been quite exciting — Laufey live with my son, a lovely clinic day at HomeWellness, my Emotion & Energy Reset online programme started, and I’ve also been doing a Reiki refresher teaching.
And… yesterday my body clearly told me it needed a break. I went to bed quite late two nights in a row (I’m usually in bed around 10pm o:)) and I could feel how quickly “good-but-stimulating” days add up.
If you’ve been feeling any of these lately, you’re not alone:
- tired but wired
- waking at night / restless sleep
- jaw/neck/shoulder tension/pain
- mood swings or anxiety “for no reason”
- feeling pulled off-centre easily
This is where I come back to one word: homeostasis.
Homeostasis is your foundation
Homeostasis is your body’s built-in stabilising system. It’s constantly working to keep your internal world steady — energy, hormones, digestion, mood, and nervous system state — even when life is busy.
When we miss the basics, homeostasis doesn’t “fail”… it simply works harder.
And the body often pays the cost as tension, poor sleep, cravings, gut flare-ups, low resilience.
That’s why I always return to the beginning:
fuel • water • movement • sleep • rest
And I ask one question that changes everything:
Calming, relaxing, resting — which one do you actually need?
These words sound similar, but they’re different states in the body.
Calming
Your mind settles. Less noise, less urgency. Thoughts slow down.
Relaxing
Your body softens. Jaw unclenches. Shoulders drop. Belly releases.
Resting
Your system repairs. Deep recovery. The body finally downshifts into repair mode.
Many of us try to “rest” with distraction… but the body doesn’t always enter true repair.
A 2-minute “back to foundation” reset (try tonight)
- feet on the floor + soften the jaw(lips together, teeth apart)
- breathe in 4 / out 6 × 6 rounds
- ask:“do i need calming, relaxing, or resting?”
- choose one tiny action:
- calming: 60 seconds no-input + long exhale
- relaxing: warmth (shower / hot water bottle)
- resting: start wind-down 15 minutes earlier (keep it simple)
Do this once and notice: jaw, breath, and mind often soften within minutes.
Small repetition is how homeostasis rebuilds.
How my therapy helps (and yes — Reiki can support all three)
If your system won’t settle with self-care alone, support can help you stabilise faster.
I’m a Reiki practitioner (and teacher), and I love how Reiki can meet you wherever you are:
- calm the nervous system and quiet the mind
- relax the body’s holding (especially when you’re bracing)
- support deeper rest and repair by helping the body feel safe enough to downshift
Depending on what you need, I may blend:
Reiki • Craniosacral • Massage • Facial/Foot Reflexology • EFT • Emotion Code • Ear work
This week: where to see me
I’m at triyoga Camden this Saturday

Online — EFT / Emotion Code / Distant Reiki /Emotion &Energy Reset Programme
calming / relaxing / resting — and I’ll suggest a kind starting point.
Reiki teaching (for you + your family)
I also teach Reiki — such a beautiful tool to have for yourself and your loved ones.
This practice has made a big difference in my own life, and it deepens my healing hands… which you may have already experienced in your sessions with me o:))
If you feel called to learn Reiki, please enquire — reply REIKI (or email me) and I’ll share the options and dates.
With warmth,
Naomi
